Can I please have another helping of mise-en-scene?

Lackluster...that's the best way to describe it...ok, it could just be me that wants cinema quality animated films out of this technology, but really, does anyone else think that the majority of machinima created is just cheesy? Wow, it is so exciting to see a bunch of virtual people twitching and contorting on a cheesy, early 90's graphic quality set. I understand that the technology in the virtual spaces like WOW and Second Life allow a very simple process of creating virtual movies, but come on, just because the process is simple doesn't mean we need to skimp on the creativity.

A little FYI to start us off...

So, what is Machinima? (from machinima.com)

Machinima (muh-sheen-eh-mah) is filmmaking within a real-time, 3D virtual environment, often using 3D video-game technologies.

In an expanded definition, it is the convergence of filmmaking, animation and game development. Machinima is real-world filmmaking techniques applied within an interactive virtual space where characters and events can be either controlled by humans, scripts or artificial intelligence.
By combining the techniques of filmmaking, animation production and the technology of real-time 3D game engines, Machinima makes for a very cost- and time-efficient way to produce films, with a large amount of creative control.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
